Planning a reduction under Cal-WARN

California’s WARN Act (Cal-WARN) covers establishments with 75 or more employees and generally requires 60 days’ notice before a mass layoff of 50 or more workers, a relocation or a closure. Since January 1, 2026, Cal-WARN notices must also state whether the employer will coordinate services, such as a rapid response orientation, through the local workforce development board or another entity. A Capstone outplacement program gives departing employees 1-on-1 help on top of those public resources.
